Certify vacancies at a local level.
  • Maintain receipt of nominating petitions and certification to the County Clerk of local candidates nominated by petition.
  • Exercise quasi-judicial authority in determining the validity of petitions.
  • Furnish material for local elections.
  • Suggest polling places.
  • Maintain receipt of election results.
  • Certify to the County Clerk persons elected to partisan County Committee Offices in each election district.
  • Chief Registrar of Voters in the Municipality.

Become a District Boardworker
 
Any registered voter is eligible. A minimum of four Boardworkers are assigned to each district, two Democrat and two Republican. You would report at 5:15AM until the polls close and return the election material to the Municipal Clerk's Office. The pay is $200.00 for the day. SECRETARY OF THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION
  • Custodian of the Municipal seal.
  • Maintain custody of all minutes, books, deeds, bonds, contracts and archival records of the municipal corporation.
  • Attest to the signatures of municipal officers and officials.
  • Maintain receipt of service of legal documents.

SECRETARY OF THE GOVERNING BODY

  • Prepare agenda for Annual Reorganization meeting of the Governing Body.
  • Prepare meeting agenda at the discretion of the Governing Body and be present at all meetings of the Governing Body.
  • Transcribe and keep an official record of the proceedings of every meeting and retain the original copies of all minutes, ordinances and resolutions.
  • Process, record, file and when necessary, advertise ordinances, resolutions and the Municipal budget.
  • Administer and record oaths of office.
  • Handle Municipal correspondence both incoming & outgoing. Prepare weekly correspondence list and packets for Governing Body, Administrator and Solicitor.
  • Maintain custody of all official records not specifically handled by other departments.
  • Act as a liaison to the public and correspondent on behalf of the Governing Body.
  • Advertise and authorize exceptions to receipt of formal bids.
  • Certify to the Municipality‚Äôs Bond Counsel as to the proper advertising, filing of Supplemental Debt Statement and no protests have been filed with the municipality as to the adoption of bond ordinances. Advertise full bond ordinance.
  • Annual Audit: Publication of receipt of audit report. Forward to Director of DLGS proof of publication of synopsis, certified copy of resolution, originally signed Group affidavit.
  • Annual Government Ethics: {NJSA 40A: -22} File annually all statements with Director of DLGS of all local government officers by April 30th.
ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
 
Responsible for the acceptance of applications for licenses and permits and the issuance of licenses and permits, except where statute or Municipal Ordinance has delegated that responsibility to some other Municipal Officer.

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE LICENSE
 
Administers process related to new licenses, renewals, transfers, and amendments.
  • Signs license certificate as Municipal Agent designated by Municipal Issuing Authority [NJAS 13:2-3.4}
  • Reviews requests for certain types of special permits and signs on behalf of the Municipality.
  • Submits certified copies to the Director of DLGS of all adopted resolutions and ordinances affecting local alcoholic beverage control.
