The Public Works Department maintains the day to day care of things such as the township parks, township roads and township buildings. Our Public Works employees work hard to ensure that these areas remain clean and safe.  Should you have any concerns that need to be addressed, please call to report the problem. 
 
 

 
REPORTING A PROBLEM WITH A STREET LIGHT:
 
If you need to report outages or problems with street lights in the area, please be sure to get the pole number and cross street locations and take note of the type of light before reporting the problem. You can report the problem directly to Atlantic City Electric by accessing them through this website location: http://www.atlanticcityelectric.com/home/requests/outage/streetLight/outagereport/default.aspx.
 
For power outages or other emergency such as a downed wire, pole accident or tree limb on a wire, call Atlantic City Electric at 800-833-7476.

GOODWILL INDUSTRIES® OF SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY & PHILADELPHIA
RECYCLING SERVICES
 
Tabernacle Township is working in cooperation with GOODWILL INDUSTRIES ® and is now accepting computers and computer peripherals such as monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, cables, UPS backup battery units and laptops throught the "Reconnect" partnership program with Dell®. Residents wishing to recycle these items are asked to leave the items on the side of the large blue container found in the Tabernacle Township recycling center yard Monday-Friday from 7:00AM to 3:00PM only.
 
Tabernacle Township is also recycling TV's of all sizes, vintages or brands through Goodwill Industries® partnership with "WM Recycle America®". As a service to Tabernacle Township residents, monthly pick-up of TV's will begin effective June 14, 2011. Residents are being asked to call to make arrangements for pick-up on the second Tuesday of each month, similar to the monthly metal pick-up calls which take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month. To be placed on the schedule for TV or metal pick-up, residents must call prior to 3PM of the Monday before the pick-up date. All items for pick-up must be placed at the curb by 6AM of the scheduled pick-up day.
 
A small clothing collection container has been placed in the Tabernacle Township's recycling center fenced-in area. Clothing and shoe donations are acceptable.
 
 
 
WHITE METAL MONTHLY PICKUP
 
Tabernacle Township has once a month white metal recycling on the fourth Tuesday of each month and you must call no later than 3:00PM the Monday before to arrange for pick-up at (609) 268-2570 or (609) 268-1220 ext. 110. Items that would fall under this category would include, but are not limited to: appliances, bicycles, lawn mowers, air conditioners, hot water heaters, dehumidifiers or any other metal objects that can be recycled.

Should you require additional bottle and can recycling buckets, you may come to the Public Works building Monday through Friday from 7AM to 3PM to obtain your extra bucket. (Summer hours are 7AM to 2PM.)
    
       
CHRISTMAS TREES WILL BE PICKED UP ON YOUR REGULAR TRASH DAY FROM JANUARY 2, 2013 TO FEBRUARY 1, 2013 WEATHER PERMITTING. PLEASE KEEP THE TREES SLIGHTLY SEPARATED FROM YOUR TRASH SO AS NOT TO INTERFERE WITH THE TRASH COLLECTION. IF USING PLASTIC BAGS TO REMOVE THE TREES FROM YOUR HOME, PLEASE REMOVE THE BAG ONCE IT IS AT THE CURB TO FACILITATE THE SHREDDING PROCESS. PLEASE BE SURE TO REMOVE ANY SUPPORT STANDS FROM THE TREES.
 
 
 
GUIDELINES FOR BRUSH PICK-UP
  • NO MORE THAN 2 PILES, 3 feet high by 7 feet wide, TWIGS under 3 feet in length MUST BE TIED IN BUNDLES OF LESS THAN 10LBS.
  • NO CLEARING OF LOTS, including pools, landscaping changes, improvements, house additions, decks, and trimmings taken from private tree removal services.
  • NO BRUSH, bigger than 3 inches in diameter. NO LEAVES, mixed with brush.
  • NO lumber, railroad ties, building materials, phone poles or fence posts.
  • NO brush that is cross-piled will be picked up. Stack butt end toward the street.
  • NO brush stacked between trees or in enclosures.
  • NO brush stacked in street. Brush must be stacked in the TOWNSHIP RIGHT-OF-WAY.
  • Leaves and grass clippings will not be collected and should not be intermingled with brush.
           No logs, stumps, or shrubs may be included with brush.
 
BRUSH PICK-UP SCHEDULE

Please have your brush placed by the edge of the road by SUNDAY of your scheduled week. Brush may not be placed at curb prior to 2 weeks before the scheduled collection week. DO NOT obstruct traffic or cause a safety hazard. Please note that inclement weather or emergencies may cause delays. The Township WILL NOT RETURN to pick up brush that was placed by the edge of the road after 7AM on the Monday of the scheduled week. No brush should be placed closer than 10' (feet) from any storm drain inlet or retention, detention or drainage areas. TABERNACLE TOWNSHIP HONORS TWO OF THEIR PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES
 
On April 14, 2008 at the Tabernacle Township Workshop Meeting, Mayor Kimberly Brown issued two Proclomations for Years of Service to two Township Employees of the Public Works Department.  Both employees have demonstrated due diligence in the performance of their duties and well deserve to be recognized for their efforts.

The Township is proud to have these employees on staff serving the residents of our community.  If you see them around town be sure to congratulate them on jobs well done!
Elwood Parks has been an employee with Tabernacle Township for 35 Years. He has also been an active member of the Tabernacle Rescue Squad for 21 years for which he was also recognized by the Township. 
 
Charles "Charlie" Poinsett was recognized for his 30 years of service to the Township.
 
Charlie retired from service to the Township on December 31, 2011 and was presented with a plaque recognizing his many years of service to the Tabernacle community.
